Esri wants to help you make the maps you love and is providing a resource that shares some fie examples to follow. Each map is displayed in detail, along with an explanation of why Esri loves this map, why it works and they’ve also provided a list of several steps you’ll need to follow in order to make a similar map for yourself. European Date Map
Here’s an interesting resource with a goal of informing people on acceptable behavior when it comes to dating in Europe. The map-based app shares helpful tips on things that are culturally acceptable, based on geography. No doubt, in this day of online dating gone wild, this could be very useful to some and clarify a number of unknowns. Seattle Treemap
Seattle is part of the Open TreeMap Community – OpenTreeMap is a collaborative platform for crowdsourced tree inventory, ecosystem services calculations, urban forestry analysis, and community engagement. This amazing web service enables users to locate trees, update tree records and add trees to the inventory. Tree are organized by species and photos are also provided. The Ultimate Open Sourced Beer Pong!
Developed in Saskatoon, this clever guy has developed an interactive beer pong table, complete with LED lights, ball washer and a touch-sensitive tabletop that keeps score. The creator is focussing on selling do-it-yourself kits right now, which retail anywhere from $85-$400 US. A fully manufactured table is selling for $1,800. The table is being Kickstarted where to date, over $54,000 in sales have been generated! The table – The X5 – contains a 16-bit PIC microcontroller that operates at 70 million instructions per second, meaning that it has some serious horsepower, oh, and its all open sourced!
