Falling Fruit – Mapping the Harvest
Here’s something rather cool, sorry but I can’t even recall how I heard about it! Falling fruit is a project that was built by and for “foragers”. From the crew… “Falling Fruit is a celebration of the overlooked culinary bounty of our city streets. By quantifying this resource on a map, we hope to facilitate intimate connections between people, food, and the natural organisms growing in our neighborhoods. Not just a free lunch! Foraging in the 21st century is an opportunity for urban exploration, to fight the scourge of stained sidewalks, and to reconnect with the botanical origins of food.” Theimported datasets range from small neighborhood foraging maps to vast professionally-compiled tree inventories. This so far amounts to 776 different types of edibles (most, but not all, plant species) distributed over 609,033 locations. Very Cool!
Have you ever wondered to yourself, “Ok, it’s plum season and there’s gotta be plums all over the place, but where? Well, here’s a resource that may help you find some to forage.
Local Search tools – Groupon Merchant Resources
Do you own and operate a small business or perhaps you know someone who does? Groupon has a pretty vast collection of resources specifically for the merchant. These tools will help the business owner create and manage a local deal from start to finish. There’s plenty of FAQs, articles and resources to help the business owner launch a great campaign and also monitor the effectiveness of the campaign. I fear many owners simply jump in with both feet without first exploring the options and doing everything they can to create a great experience for the customer and to maximize their groupon launch

Natural Peanut Butter Mixer
And now for something completely random! I’m a firm believer that if something doesn’t taste great then adding peanut butter will fix it. I’m also a big proponent of natural peanut butter, however, I really do hate having to mix up a new jar of the goodness in order to get all that messy oil mixed up nicely with the peanuts and the butter – enter the peanut butter mixer! For just $14 ($24 in Canada.. huh??) this mixer from the Witmer Company simply attaches to the jar where the lid would be. You turn the crank and mix until your product is nice and creamy… no more mixing with a spoon and oil spilling out all over the place! Simply brilliant…
