NASA 2013 International Space Apps Challenge
NASA and its partners have released 50 challenges for the second International Space Apps Challenge. Participants are encouraged to develop software, hardware, data visualization, and mobile/web applications that will contribute to space exploration missions and help improve life on Earth. Examples of challenges include:
- Spot the Station: Extend the functionality of the Spot the Station website (spotthestation.nasa.gov) that allows you to share your sightings of the International Space Station with others.
- 3-D Printing Challenge: Create an open source model of space hardware that can be generated by a 3-D printer.
- Smart Cities, Smart Climate: Explore the impacts of atmospheric changes on the health, infrastructure and society in urban areas.

If you have an HP web-enabled or networked printer then there’s a free app that can potentially help you avoid this situation. SureSupply by HP, formerly eSupplies, is an app that can not only allow you to monitor your ink cartridge levels or toner supply, when connected to the same network, it can also push an alert to your iOS or Android device to give you a heads up so you can to stop at the nearest store to pick up a replacement. The app can also help you find a place to buy and compare prices.

ArcGIS for Local Government MeetUp
Something for local government ArcGIS users from Esri. An interesting MeetUp taking place in Redlands on April 17 for local government folk. These meets take place monthly at the Esri campus, however, you can also join up viturally if you can’t get there in person. The first ArcGIS for Local Government meet-up will be on April 17th, 2013 at 11:00 AM Pacific (2:00 PM Eastern). Each meet-up will be an hour long, include a 25-minute presentation and the remainder of the hour will be reserved for open dialog and discussion.
