The main conference program will begin on Tuesday, October 2 with opening remarks by Lisa Murray and Keynote Chair Gretchen West of Hogan Lovells and Commercial Drone Alliance. Daniel K. Elwell, the FAA’s Acting Administrator and Michael Perry, DJI’s Managing Director of North America will deliver keynotes, with more to be announced. Following the keynote will be the first plenary session which will focus on UAS Integration Pilot Program Update & Progress to Date with a focus on public-private partnerships, anticipated timelines to improve communications, security and privacy risks and the acceleration of the approval of operations. The panel will include industry leaders from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, CNN Worldwide, AIRXOS A GE Venture, and Northern Plains UAS Test Site.
From 5:00 – 5:45 pm conference attendees will have the opportunity to choose between two additional plenary sessions. The first on What the Sky will look like in the Future, moderated by Gretchen West of Hogan Lovells and Commercial Drone Alliance, will engage thought leaders who are moving toward Urban Air Mobility. The second plenary on Powering Drones will offer new ways to charge drones with discussions on lithium ion, tethered, solar and over-the-air.
Wednesday, October 3 will kick off with three dynamic panel discussions. The first will be led by Lisa Ellman of Hogan Lovells and Commercial Drone Alliance, Travis Mason of Airbus and Susan Roberts of AIRXOS who will provide Regulatory and UTM Updates. Additional panelists comprised of government and market leaders will be announced. Lisa Ellman will also lead the discussion onData, Hacking and Counter Drone Technology during the second plenary session of the morning where she will be joined by experts from Airspace Systems, Inc. and SkySafe to discuss ensuring the security of a UAV program from flight to data. The third plenary session of the morning will include Bradley Koeckeritz, US Department of the Interior; Assel Ayapova, AES Corporation; and Colin Snow, Skylogic Research who will discuss In-House Versus Outsourcing Your Drone Program.
The conference program will also offer eight deep dive workshops focused in the areas of DOTs and Infrastructure, Process & Power, Survey & Mapping, Large Asset Installations (Cell Towers, Wind Turbines, Solar), Public Safety, Mining & Aggregates, Construction and Precision Agriculture. In addition, there will be a three-part panel of Drone Industry Visionaries which will kick off onTuesday, October 2nd at 1:30 pm with leaders from organizations including DroneDeploy, Delair, Intel Kitthawk.io, Pix4D and AIRXOS A GE Venture and Trumbull Unmanned. This panel of visionaries will debate and discuss the future of UAS as well as the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
A full conference pass will also provide attendees access to Product Previews starting on Monday, October 1st from 2:15 – 6:15 pm where 20+ companies will provide sneak peaks into the newest supplier advances and best practices for specifying, planning and executing projects. The exhibit hall will offer more than 200 booths and will be open to conference attendees for a Welcome Happy Hour on Monday, October 1st from 6:30 – 7:30 pm; on Tuesday, October 2nd from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Wednesday, October 3rd from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
